The Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker is a simple and easy to use smoker that combines convenience with high quality and affordability for the average individual. This smoker is the new summer 2019 model and includes some improvements over its predecessors, making it a great deal for amateur to professional smokers alike.

This Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker weighs 147 lbs. and has full product dimensions of 40.5 x 25 x 22 in. Instead of just being a smoker, it includes some additional cooking surfaces and mechanisms like a grill and digital temperature control.

It can be difficult to find a portable and affordable smoker/grill combo, especially when trying to order one online.

However, the Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker definitely breathes quality and is one of the best duo smoker and grill that people can get for the price – which is just around [amazon fields="B07R62LF7N" value="price"]!

At the end of the day, there is a lot to like with this smoker. Of course, some of the most tantalizing features are the digital controls and readout, which makes outdoor grilling and smoking a breeze. Especially with pellet grills and smokers, it can be quite difficult to ascertain temperature. The controls on this model make it easy.

Besides the controls, there is an extra upper shelf that can be pulled out to create extra grilling or smoking space, ensuring there is plenty of room to cook enough food for everyone at a backyard party or barbecue. This shelf doesn’t stick and heats up just as well as the rest of the grill/smoker, so it’s actually useful unlike the shelves on some other models.

The Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker is also surprisingly easy to set up, requiring less than an hour while most models can take an hour or longer. The pellet box is also easy to refill and the dispenser can be controlled with a single knob.

Overall, what we like is that the cooking experience with this smoker/grill combo is simple because Camp Chef did not try to stuff too many extra features into the device. Who needs a ton of complexities when most people just want delicious grilled or smoked food in the summer?

Plus, it’s possible to get a 3- or 4-year protection plan with this model, meaning the device is protected from standard wear and tear. This may not seem like a massively important thing, but the truth is that most grills do take up a lot of wear and tear after a while. With heavy use, there is a good chance that you will need different parts to be replaced, and having a warranty this comprehensive means that replacing the parts is ridiculously easy.

Unfortunately, just like there are some great features in this smoker/grill, there are also some negatives. One of the most egregious is that customer service is ridiculously difficult to contact.

After our own experiences and reading several reviews, it seems like the people at Camp Chef don’t have the best organization and seem to be running around with their heads cut off. While it’s possible to get replacement parts eventually, the process can take weeks and involve multiple emails and phone calls.

Besides this, patented ash cleanout doesn’t seem to work as great as described. While it definitely eliminates a ton of the ash from the pellets, most people still find it necessary to do a cursory run with a vacuum to truly clean out the grill/smoker.

So, users can save time while cleaning, but the Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker doesn’t offer the quick fix it advertises.

Also, as a final note, sometimes the probes don’t seem to be the most accurate, with users reporting variations of around 10 degrees. This doesn’t seem like a lot until you’re trying to make sure the meat is safe to eat! Also, if you are someone who is trying to cook meat to a precise temperature based on certain recipes, you will need your own meat thermometer because the unit will not have the precision that you need to execute the dish.

Buying Advice

When it comes to buying a smoker and grill, there are a couple of things to watch out for. The first is complicated assembly, since many people don’t actually know how a grill works.

If you don’t have a ton of experience with outdoor cooking and machinery, it’s recommended that you set aside some money to spring for expert assembly. It can cost around [amazon fields="B07R62LF7N" value="price"], but is worth it to have a fully functional device. Plus, if the machine is installed wrong, it will be fixed for free.

After a careful review of the different pricing options, it’s also recommended to buy from Amazon over other online retailers. Amazon tends to have the most fair and accurate pricing, and you want a good deal on something this expensive.

Final Words

Buying a combo smoker and grill doesn’t have to be complicated, and the Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker is definitely one of our favorites because of its simplicity.

This device manages to combine the best of both worlds while still being easy to use, so amateurs and pros alike can enjoy delicious backyard dinners without having to worry about their chicken going up in flames.

If you’re ready for a high end smoker and grill for a mid-range price, then the Camp Chef SmokePro Slide Smoker is definitely for you.
