In this review, we are going to talk a little more about the features of the Zoeller Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump, but we are also going to give you an overview of what people who have purchased the sump pump had to say about their overall experience with it.
Then, we’re going to give you our recommendation on whether or not this sump pump is something you should consider purchasing for your own home!
About The Product
The Zoeller Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump is a fully submersible sump pump that is favored by many contractors and plumbers. The pump is made from cast iron that has been coated in an epoxy, which prevents the cast iron from corroding due to damp conditions and/or sitting in water for prolonged periods of time.
The cast iron is also responsible for dispersing heat from the motor into the water, keeping all the internal parts safe and in working order.
Notable features of the Zoeller Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump include:
The pump features a stainless steel handle that makes carrying the pump to and from tasks easy. It also comes with a three meter long power cord that can be submerged in water without fearing electrical shocks.
The pump features a 1 1/2 inch NPT discharge that can be fitted with a standard PVC pipe. Inside the pump you will find a 1/3 horsepower motor that can reach a maximum speed of 1550 RPM.
This sump pump automatically can be switched on or off via the switch assembly. There is a float that connects to the pole switch where a vertical extrusion is on the side. When the water rises, the float will too, thus causing the motor to come on.

What People Had To Say
When looking at what people had to say about the Zoeller Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump, we weren’t surprised to see that the majority of customers had nothing but good things to say about their new pump.
Several customers report that the pump is capable of removing rain water from the bottom of a pool with no complaints. Other have said that the pump is “rock solid” and with the proper care, it can last for many years to come.
Customers like that the pump is much quieter than the previous sump they’ve had in their home. They appreciate the cast iron construction and the stainless steel handle and float guard.
They voiced some concerns about the base being made from plastic, but the plastic has proven to be able to withstand years of use. They go on to say the pump is heavy and solid. A few people have said that the pump isn’t small by any means, but it is compact enough to fit two pumps in one sump pit.
Although this sump pump had a lot of positive reviews, there were a small handful of people who weren’t happy with their purchase. Of these critical reviews, the most common problem people had was in regards to the float switch.
Customers report that the range on the float is too short for the average sump pit, but it isn’t adjustable, thus making the customer have to purchase an adjustable double float switch and bypass the one that is on the pump.
Other customers have said that switch on their unit had broken completely, causing the pump to run continuously. There were some people who reported that their pump stopped working shortly after purchasing and installing the pump. One person said their unit burned out only after a week after it was installed.
A few people have said that the pump should have been sealed better because it keeps blowing the circuit breaker when its being used. They also mention that the water seeps into the device where the cord meets the base of the pump.
The Zoeller Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump features a variety of heavy duty features that makes it a strong pump perfect for any task you throw at it. The exterior of the pump is resistant to corrosion and the powerful motor ensures that you’ll be able to move 2680 gallons of water per hour – more than enough power for most home applications.
We like this pump because it undergoes tests to ensure it can withstand regular use and it doesn’t leak. The pump performs quite well, with its impressive discharge size, the automatic functioning and overheat switch. With these features, you don’t have to worry about excess water or heat in the sump pit.
The pump comes with a plastic vortex impeller that helps suck up water. The 9 foot power cord allows for you to move the pump where you need it to remove water. You do have an option to attach a water hose if you want to drain the water from a pool cover or something similar.
We especially like that this sump pump comes with a 1 year warranty. With this warranty, you can rest assured in knowing that if your pump should ever stop working for one reason or another, you can contact Zoeller and utilize the warranty to receive a replacement.
When you are searching for new sump pump to protect your home or to drain pools and hot tubs, we believe this is a decent choice
